The project DETRA is organising a workshop on priorities for road research. The main topic of the workshop is to discuss with the stakeholders the future challenges that need to be addressed to develop the Surface transport ERA. The afternoon sessions will focus on the needs and gaps that must be handeled within the areas of Research infrastructure and research Institutes. The event will take place on 18th March 2011 from 9.30am at the BRRC premises - 21 Fokkersdreed - 1933 Sterrebeek. (see draft agenda below)

Parallel session 1 – Research Infrastructure (WP2)

This workshop considers the opportunities that exist to develop the research infrastructures needed for strengthening the ERA of today and the challenges and opportunities faced by transport for the future. This includes the future demands and missing gaps and the opportunities that exist.  It will consider Hard (physical) RIs and Soft RIs consisting of databases, libraries etc.  Consideration will also be given to the international dimension and the needs of the industrial, academic and public sectors.

Parallel session 2 – Strengthening Research Institutions (WP3)

This second parallel workshop will focus on how research organization have already adapted to the ERA objectives and the actions still to be taken to become mid-21st century excellent research organisations (scientific excellence, relevance excellence, governance excellence) providing high quality services for the Knowledge Triangle.
