The Transportation Research Board (TRB) will hold a webinar on 5th May 2011 called  "Communicating the Value of Research: A Focus on Successful State DOT Practices and Case Studies".

More than 40 percent of state departments of transportation (DOTs) in the USA are transitioning into new leadership, and many states are faced with budget shortfalls. Now is a critical time for research staff to articulate the return on investment that research can have for state DOTs. The objective of this webinar is to inform state DOT research managers and staff about practices that can help them communicate the value of research to their state DOT leadership. Invited speakers will provide examples of strategies, approaches, and tools used within their agencies to communicate internally and externally. Learn about:

• Successful practices for communicating, and when it is important to communicate about research activities; 
• How to take the results of a research project and communicate it to different audiences;
• Communicating the benefits of research and return on investment; and
• Using technology to better communicate research results.

This webinar is organized by TRB, the TRB Conduct of Research Committee, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Research Advisory Committee (RAC).
