The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Department of Civil and Transport Engineering, has two vacant academic positions as Professor/Associate Professor within the research group Road and Transport Engineering. Deadline for both positions is 24th February 2012.
Professorship/Associate Professorship in Civil and Transport Engineering (Traffic Safety)

The Professorship will have specific responsibility for teaching and research within the field of traffic safety for all road user groups. Focus will be placed on engineering knowledge within safety management and risk assessment of the road traffic system, statistical analyses of effects of traffic safety measures, road user behaviour and interaction studies and other relevant theories and methods used within traffic safety science. It is strongly desirable and a clear advantage that the professor has detailed knowledge and interest within traffic engineering and ITS (Intelligent transport systems and services), as well as an understanding of the relationship between these areas and traffic safety.
Professorship/Associate Professorship in Civil and Transport Engineering (Geometric Design of Roads)

The Professorship will have specific responsibility for teaching and research within the fundamental theory for geometric design of roads. The professorship should also hold knowledge in several of the following topics: geometric design of intersections, the effect geometric design has on the performance of roads and intersections in respect to factors like traffic safety and traffic flow, adjustment to existing roads and other infrastructure, the aesthetic location of the road, analyses of environmental impact of highway projects, cost/benefit analyses for road projects and the use and application of highway planning software.
