Tomorrow’s Railway and Climate Change Adaptation - Call for input
TRL seeking input for Tomorrow’s Railway and Climate Change Adaptation (TRaCCA) project
TRL is a partner in a research project called Tomorrow’s Railway and Climate Change Adaptation (TRaCCA), funded through the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) in the UK. TRaCCA aims to deliver a step change in the UK railway industry’s knowledge about its vulnerability to extreme weather and climate change impacts, and to develop appropriate tools to increase railway resilience to these phenomena.
Part of the project involves identifying methods used in other countries and transport modes (e.g. road) to manage weather impacts which could be transferable to UK railways. We would be very grateful if transport operators and researchers were able to complete a short survey about weather and climate change responses. Although, it is orientated towards the rail sector we would also be interested in responses from a road perspective as it shares many common challenges with regard to climate change.
The survey can be accessed via https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8W59LYQ and should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Responses will be treated as confidential. If we wish to report on specific results received, or ask follow-up questions, we will ask permission from the respondent. Respondents also have the opportunity to indicate if they wish to further engage in the project or receive information about the results of the research later in 2014.
Thank you in advance for your help. If you have any questions about the project, please contact Sarah Reeves at sreeves@trl.co.uk.
