Sophie Leclercq starts work as part-time intern at FEHRL

Sophie to focus on the FEHRL Institute report and best practice guide for national road research organisations



Sophie Leclercq is carrying out a part-time internship at FEHRL for seven months to focus on the funding and governance trends in the research institutes’ sector. Sophie, who is a master student in European Affairs with a specialisation in Economics at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), started her three-day a week internship at the FEHRL Secretariat on 24th November 2014.

Her main tasks as an intern at FEHRL are to :

  • Update the FEHRL Institute report to encourage the communication amongst members
  • Produce a “guide of best practice for national road research organisations” for FEHRL members’ use, including:

    -an overview of how FEHRL institutes cope with their funding and governance schemes

    -an analysis of how the different business models influence the R&D&I

  • Promote the business case of national road research, in support of individual members negotiations

Sophie previously carried out internships at the Rhône-Alpes regional Council focusing on the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2014-2020 programming period, as well as at IFSTTAR (the French FEHRL member), during which she produced an assessment report on the institute’s participation to FP7 and at EARTO (the European Association of Research and Technology Organisations), which focused on the importance of Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) in the European research system.
