FEHRLopedia

content name:
Different types and design of tram/light-rail/train crossings are used on urban roads in Europe. There are four main sources of noise where a tram, light-rail or railway crosses a road. The total noise exposure of people living next to rail crossings is the sum of the contributions from these four main noise sources. In this project the noise from the road traffic is in focus. When cars are crossing the rail the tyre-road noise may increase due to height discontinuities and joints between the pavement and the rail. The objective of this part of the SILENCE project was: 1. To produce a ranking in relation to road traffic noise of commonly used existing types of tram/light-rail/train crossings. 2. To find solutions which are as quiet as possible.

The similarity algorithm calculates how much two contents in the system are similar to one another. So far, similarity is calculated based on similarity of the project type, area of interest and user type. Generally, if two contents have more parameters in common they are more similar to each another. More information.
