 COST call for preliminary proposals 05.01.2008

COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technical research) invites proposals for new Actions contributing to the scientific, economic, cultural or societal development of Europe. It is announced that proposals playing a precursor role for other European programmes involving young groups’ ideas are especially welcome.

The next collection date for Preliminary Proposals will be 28 March 2008, 17:00 (Brussels time).

The U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of International Programs has released a case study that explores the Netherlands weigh-in-motion (WIM) data management system that it uses to support a broad array of vehicle weight regulation and enforcement activities, as well as long-term planning and decision-making.

 TRB SHRP2/FEHRL NDT Symsposium (January 2008, Washington, USA) 05.10.2007
TRB’s Strategic Highway Research Program 2 (SHRP 2), is cooperating with FEHRL, in sponsoring an International Symposium on Non-Destructive Testing for Design Evaluation and Construction Inspection. The symposium is designed to gather international feedback on planning a program of research and development for non-destructive testing applied to highway renewal design and construction inspection.

 New FEHRL project FiWi - FEHRL institutes WIM initiative project 13.07.2007

Starting September 2007, FEHRL institutes active in Weigh-in-motion (WIM) R&D have joined forces in a new FEHRL project: FiWi.

Since the early 90's there have been considerable developments in the field of Weigh-in-Motion in Europe. Interesting results have been achieved by cooperation in international projects like DIVINE, COST-323, WAVE, Top-Trial and Remove.

One of the aims of the FiWi project is to implement the key recommendations of the Remove project.

 New leadership team takes office 04.07.2007

The new President Claude Van Rooten, Vice -Presidents  Helen Riddervold and Andra¾ Legat and the Treasurer          Peter Maurer formally took office on the 1st of July 2007. This followed the elections of the recent General Assembly.

 Institute staff at FEHRL office 26.06.2007

Martin Pipa from CDV joined the FEHRL Office at the beginning of June 2007. He is assigned a four-month secondment to learn about our activities in Brussels and work with fellow project managers and research developers. The training is part of the FP6 CERTAIN project and he will work closely with the European Commission.
