The training is structured in three modules: Basics in Road Safety Engineering, Road Safety Auditing and Road Safety Inspection
The course will finish with an exam. A certificate will be delivered recognizing the trainee’s active participation during the course
 
Basics in Road Safety Engineering
 

● Preparation work by the trainees
   - Overview of regional accident statistics
    - Overview of the characteristics of different secondary road types and different intersection  
     types in the concerned region
 
● Road Safety Engineering
   - Road Safety management
   - Road Safety Factors
- Road Safety Engineering Factors
 
● Principle of road design
    - Main Characteristics of different secondary road types & intersection types
    - Overview of the geometric parameters affecting road safety
    - Characteristics and requirements of pedestrians, persons with impaired mobility,cyclists, 
       PTW
    - Overview on accident data

 

Road Safety Audits
● What is the Road Safety Audit procedure? legal aspects, RSA stages & process, fundamental safety elements for each stage, reporting method
● Practical examples of RSA (analysis of projects in groups, oral reporting and discussion)

● Practical exercise of RSA by pair of trainees on projects (audit & report)

 

Road Safety Inspection

What is Road Safety Inspection and why is it needed? Participants and responsibilities, legal aspects, Benefits and costs of RSI, RSI procedures and its steps, fundamental safety elements, reporting,
● Practical illustration through a case study
  

● Practical RSI by pairs of trainees
- Inspection (on site) & report
