 SURF 2008 Conference 21.10.2008

FEHRL's members provided substantial technical contributions to SURF 2008.  In conjunction with the EC funded CERTAIN and Tyrosafe projects, FEHRL provided a focal point for dissemination and networking in the research field for the multinational delegates.

 Launch of EC public consultation "Shaping the ICT research and innovation agenda for the next decade" 19.09.2008

In search of the best strategies to boost Europe's leadership in ICT (Information and Communications Technology) research and innovation in the next decade, the European Commission launched a public consultation. Contributions from industry, ICT experts, policy-makers and the wider public will be fed into a new strategy for ICT research and innovation, to be unveiled next year.  EC Report on Road Infrastructure research 08.09.2008

The DG Research study Road Infrastructure: The backbone of Transport System" was launched at TRA2008. In this publication, the strategies and objectives from FP5, through FP6 to FP7 are reviewed.  Looking at the projects related to road infrastructure, the report presents the evolution of the importance of the infrastructure themes throughout the programmes.

 Start of Tyrosafe project 11.07.2008

The FP7 Coordinated Action Tyrosafe (Tyre and Road Surface Optimisation for Skid resistance and Further Effects) started on July 1st. This 1.16 M€ project will not only focus on the road surface but also on tyres and on the interaction between the road surface and tyres. Tyrosafe will run for two years and has 7 partners (arsenal research, BAST, FEHRL, LCPC, Rijkswaterstaat, TRL and ZAG).

 FEHRL at the South African Transport Conference 08.07.2008

Steve Phillips made a plenary address during the opening session of the 27th Southern African Transport Conference and Exhibition (SATC), which was helt in Johannesburg, South-Africa from July 7th until July 11th, 2008. Steve's speech was entitled "Building Partnerships for Road Transport Research"  and was acclaimed by SA's Transport Minister Jeff Radebe, who was also conference patron.

 NR2C final report 11.04.2008

The final report and all others technical documents of NR2C (New Road Construction Concept) project are now available in the FEHRL's Knowlege Centre as well as on the NR2C website: http://nr2c.fehrl.org/?m=23&id_directory=789. The project is supported through the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Union.

 SILENCE final training conference 13.03.2008

From  28th to 29th of May 2008, the SILENCE final training conference "Reducing Transport Noise in Urban Areas“ will be held in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. An extensive SILENCE exhibition will form an integral part of the training sessions on the second day.

 INTRO final workshop 29.02.2008

The Intelligent Roads (INTRO) final workshop within the Safe Highways of the Future Conference took place on the 13th of February in Brussels. There was a great level of interest in the conference. An archive of the live webcast from the conference is now available to view online. This will allow you to access the presentations and the slides. You will need to register to use the archive, but colleagues and others not at the conference are welcome to do so.
